When you kill him, you can use the bug again to respec your character back to what he/she was, or maybe try something new as well if you want. He's a dragon and weak to lighting, but with the other characters, I didn't enjoy the fight that much, so I just went with the Pestilent way. Journey to the world’s end to search for the Ringed City and encounter new lands, new bosses, new enemies with new armor, magic and items. I defeated him with a miracle build first.
You still need to dodge his crap and use the spell in smart places, but it still is a cheesy way to kill him. Midir is quite big and sometimes stays in the same place for a considerate ammount of time. Then you put some ATN so you don't run out of FP too quickly and the rest into Vigor and Endurance.
The reason I'm saying this is because if you just want to be done with the fight already, respec your character to a sorcerer build, but just enough INT to cast this spell: There's a bug that allows you to respec infinitely. You can respec to a different build to fight him.
